Just before the fall 2023 semester concluded, several Maysville Community and Technical College (乐播传媒) students took advantage of an unprecedented recruitment event as part of the partnership between 乐播传媒 and St. Claire HealthCare (SCH).
The College to Career Showcase, which was open to 乐播传媒 students, as well as SCH employees, community members, and area high school students, allowed those in attendance to meet with various 乐播传媒 and SCH departments to discuss career and education opportunities.
鈥淭his is really what it is all about,鈥 said Jessica Kern, title. 鈥淚t鈥檚 about having programs at our institution that seamlessly transition our students into a career.鈥
Attendees had the opportunity to visit nearly 30 tables, a mix of both 乐播传媒 programs and SCH departments, where they could speak to representatives from both organizations. While 乐播传媒鈥檚 healthcare programs were well represented at the event, guests could also mingle with faculty from 乐播传媒 programs such as culinary arts, computer information technology, construction technology, air conditioning technology, and more.
Personalized tours of St. Claire Regional Medical Center were also provided by St. Claire staff, allowing attendees to see what it would be like to be a part of the team at SCH in their chosen career path.
鈥淲hen I attended the showcase at St. Claire, everyone was very friendly,鈥 said Maranda Swartz, a student at 乐播传媒. 鈥淚 came as a current 乐播传媒 student and employee to see what their IT positions were like for when I graduate and was not disappointed. They talked to us about things we could do to help us get a job, as well as gave us a tour of their offices and departments within IT. It was a very eye-opening experience and an all-around great time.鈥
Last month鈥檚 College to Career Showcase was just the latest example of ways that 乐播传媒 has partnered with SCH to educate the region鈥檚 future workforce.
In August, 乐播传媒 and SCH announced the St. Claire Academic-Practice Scholarship Program, aimed to remove economic barriers to education, by providing students with access to scholarship dollars that will help close the gap between their cost of attendance and other forms of financial aid.
The partnership also provides a continuous stream of specialized employees to meet the workforce needs of St. Claire HealthCare in both clinical and non-clinical areas.
鈥溊植ゴ is really special,鈥 said Donald H. Lloyd II, President/CEO of SCH. 鈥淚t fills a mission that is critically important, not only to St. Claire, not only to healthcare, but to the region as a whole.鈥
